06 04/2014Damien Buckley Propeller Partner with Nexcess to Provide Dedicated ExpressionEngine Hosting

Nexcess beyond hostingPropeller are delighted to have been appointed as a Development Partner to Detroit-based Nexcess

After hearing Nexcess President Chris Wells talk at the 2013 ExpressionEngine Conference about how Nexcess had, in conjunction with ExpressionEngine vendors EliisLab, developed an optimised hosting platform for ExpressionEngine-based websites, Propeller forged a partnership with Nexcess in order to provide our clients with a dedicated hosting platform for ExpressionEngine-based websites.

Nexcess was founded in October, 2000 with aspirations of providing good, quality hosting services at reasonable prices, in the beginning hosting friends, family and any other folks they could convince to using their fledgling service. During this time, the InterWorx™ Control Panel and NOCWorx™ data center Management System were born. Nexcess focused on one thing since day one: Superior Hosting Solutions. Nexcess are committed to providing reliable, scalable, dedicated hosting services to clients of all shapes and sizes.

Nexcess acquired their own data center located in the Metro Detroit area (Dearborn, Michigan) in late 2006. Since opening the doors Nexcess have been able to provide an even higher level of client support, and a wider range of plans and services, including Michigan-based colocation, dedicated hosting, managed server clusters, and most recently, Magento E-Commerce plans, which have proven to be extremely popular. In 2013 Nexcess opened another data center facility, located in Southfield, Michigan.

Also in 2013 Nexcess expanded again, offering ExpressionEngine, WordPress and Magento optimised hosting services in Brisbane. All services delivered from the new Brisbane data center come with diverse fiber connectivity to other major Australian cities, New Zealand, and the growing tech economies of Southeast Asia. Cooling and power systems at Nexcess Brisbane are fully meshed and N+1 redundant for maximum uptime, with modern UPS and more than 1,000 liters of diesel fuel kept on-site for generator power in the unlikely event of a major power crisis. Nexcess provide superior service and support with support staff available 24×7×365.

The first Propeller-built website to deploy on Nexcess hosting was Brown Brothers Engineers. We found Nexcess servers to be far superior in both specification and performance to all other options we have explored previously. Deployment went without a hitch and the site runs fast, really fast. We have since been able to migrate several other sites to Nexcess and although currently built on the Textpattern CMS, such was our confidence in the Nexcess platform, we migrated www.propellerglobal.com over anyway!

Our experience with the Nexcess platform and support has been so good that we are committed to partnering with Nexcess as our sole hosting provider for ExpressionEngine websites. We are also proud to announce that Propeller were recently invited to join Nexcess’ Development Partner Program. We are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Nexcess.
