08 09/2010Damien Buckley Slideshow Pro Director Mobile now available

Slideshow Pro

We mentioned back in July that Slideshow Pro would soon offer an HTML5-driven mobile alternative to their superb Flash-powered gallery and slideshow software.

This is great news as up to now the application relied solely on users’ machines having the Flash player installed, effectively locking out all users of iPod, iPhone and iPad due to Apple’s refusal to allow Flash on its mobile machines.

This new development, now available to users of the Hosted Slideshow Pro Director service, offers the ability to detect if a users’ browser has Flash installed. If Flash is detected, the embedded custom Slideshow Pro gallery runs as normal and if not, the system falls-back to Director’s HTML5 mobile player which runs on iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad and Android-based devices.

Additionally, the new player-embedding feature allows users to directly embed their content in much the same way as YouTube, providing users with the ability to upload slideshows, videos or galleries and to easily embed them in their website pages or news/blog articles.

Alterations to the page displaying the slideshow or gallery are required in order for this to work and Propeller will shortly be notifying all of our Slideshow Pro Director users of this upgrade.
