When the stunning Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel | Spa Resort completed its transmogrification from rustic old style pub to an uber sophisticated resort style hotel & spa, they called on Propeller to design a range of print materials to promote their luxurious new accommodation and spa.

Having been shortlisted for the 2007 McFarlane Prize, Propeller packed up their mice and shut down their displays for the day and headed to Sydney for Web Directions South 2007.

Over 600 delegates attended WDS07 along with a raft of exhibitors and international speakers from all disciplines and areas of web design; Andy Clarke, Aaron Gustavson, and Chris Wilson to name but a few. The premier web conference in the Southern hemisphere, WDS07 is sponsored by Microsoft, Adobe, the W3C, Glass Onion and Wired Sky.

e-marketer reports that of all word-of-mouth (WOM) tactics, viral marketing has probably drawn the most attention from marketers. And they have lofty goals for it. According to a 2006 study by JupiterResearch, cited in Internet Retailer, the biggest goal of viral marketers was to increase brand awareness (71%). Half also expected to drive online sales, and 44% hoped to drive offline sales.

In response to some interesting demographics emerging from the 2007 A List Apart Web Design Survey, Jeffrey Zeldman calls for dedicated Web Divisions in business. Its a sad reality that most companies large enough to have either I.T. or Marketing departments tend to let them loose on the company’s website with oft ordinary results.
