Google Chrome to mark all HTTP sites as “Not secure”

Last February we reported that from January 2017 Google would begin displaying the security of the website's connection in the address bar of Chrome browsers for any web page that displays a password and/or credit card field. Google has now taken things one step further. Beginning in July 2018 with the release of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”.

Who Do You Trust To Create Your Online Presence?

As the web design & development space becomes busier and more complex, so too do your options as a business. Propeller work across the full gamut of marketing - graphic design, web design, email marketing, social media, public relations and communications, but what we are perhaps best known for is professional web design & development. We've seen the rise of offshoring, software as a service (SAAS), 'free' and AI-driven websites, CSS and Javascript frameworks. You name it. We've seen it.

So, where do Propeller sit in the twinkling universe of the web design community?

The Deaf Society

Over the last four months, Propeller have given the Deaf Society website a major overhaul and redesign. Propeller first launched the Deaf Society's ExpressionEngine-based website in April 2013. Over the past couple of years the website has undergone many changes and incremental updates but the web has changed considerably, with mobile and tablet use now outstripping desktop visitors, Google's ranking algorithms pivoting towards quality content and speed and, with the introduction of the NDIS, the Deaf Society's content focus has shifted dramatically. It was time for some new clothes…

Boost your Google ranking with HTTPS (SSL)

Google studies show that visitors do not consider the absence of a “secure” icon as a warning, even though they absolutely should! Which is why Google is taking the extra step to warn Chrome users (Google's proprietary web browser used by more than 55% of internet users) when they're about to enter their sensitive information into a website that is not secure.
